Master the 39 Urdu letters, their shapes, and sounds. Each letter is shown in Nastaliq script with Roman transliteration.
2. Build Vocabulary

Read simple passages with parallel translations. Toggle transliteration on/off as your confidence grows.

About Urdu Script
Urdu is written right-to-left using a modified Arabic script called Nastaliq. Don't worry if it looks unfamiliar — this course introduces each letter with its Roman equivalent and English meaning.

Transliteration
Every Urdu word on this site includes a Roman script version so you can read it even before you learn the alphabet.
